Bowleaze: The ‘Sandbanks of the Jurassic Coast’ - South Dorset’s Latest Luxury Property Hotspot

Bowleaze, a picturesque suburb of Weymouth, is fast becoming one of South Dorset’s most exclusive property markets, earning the nickname the 'Sandbanks of the Jurassic Coast'. With spectacular views of the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coastline and rising demand for luxury homes, Bowleaze is attracting both local and national attention for its stunning location and high-end property offerings.
According to Rightmove, there are currently four houses available in Bowleaze, three of which are listed with DOMVS estate agents. Prices for the houses range from £975,000 to £1,700,000, with all homes featuring breathtaking panoramic views of the coastline. The average price per square foot in Bowleaze is currently £663 – reflecting the area's growing status as a luxury hotspot.
While the average house price in Weymouth stands at £333,146, the exclusivity and desirability of Bowleaze have significantly elevated property values in this enclave, with high-end homes commanding a premium. In Weymouth, the price per square foot ranges from £276 for terraced houses to £378 for detached homes. By contrast, Bowleaze offers an exceptional balance of exclusivity and value, with properties averaging £640 per square foot—well above Weymouth's prices but still offering considerably more value than Sandbanks, where homes average £1,284 per square foot and recent house sales have reached an average of £2,333,851, according to Land Registry data via Dataloft.
Bowleaze’s allure is driven by its proximity to one of the UK’s most dramatic coastlines. The area offers residents not only privacy and exclusivity but also immediate access to natural beauty. This stretch of coast is renowned for its walking trails, beaches, and opportunities for watersports – adding to the appeal for affluent buyers looking for both a retreat and a lifestyle investment.
The rise in property values in Bowleaze reflects a broader trend of affluent buyers moving beyond traditional high-end areas like Sandbanks in search of new coastal havens. As Bowleaze continues to attract high-net-worth individuals seeking exclusivity, natural beauty, and investment potential, local agents expect demand to remain strong.
“With the Jurassic Coast as your backyard, Bowleaze offers some of the finest homes and views in the region,” says Polly Greenway, spokesperson for DOMVS estate agents. “Our recent sales have set the bar high for prices here and as we continue to see increased interest from buyers across the country, it's clear that Bowleaze is establishing itself as a prime location for luxury coastal living, whilst providing more value than other comparable areas, such as Sandbanks.”
